I just read the most amusing article on Yahoo this morning about Illinois being the fourth state to allow illegal aliens to get a driver’s license so they can have a way to get to work.
Amazing for the fact that coming into America illegally makes them a criminal. They have broken the law. When was the last time any of you were rewarded for breaking a law? As a legal American citizen, I can’t remember a time. I think America usually punishes law breakers to discourage the behavior in the future, and to get extra funds to keep operating. You have to know that if so many people are getting into America so easily as this, who is stopping the terrorists from doing the same thing?
Another frightening fact is that the people making and changing our laws lately don’t seem to have the brains God gave little green apples, as my grandmother used to put it. Many of the new laws and rules are unfair, unjust and downright destructive to a civilized society. The way I see it, if some receive a “get out of jail free card” the rest of us should as well.
I have first hand proof of what encouraging illegal immigrants to America causes, as an ex-employee of the Internal Revenue Service.
The problems go from the small business owners that are tempted into hiring cheap labor and paying under the table, so employment taxes are not paid, to the fact that the business owners that hire these people, probably for less money, do not have legitimate or correct documentation for their employees and get fined for this on a Federal level. I am not sure what the states do in these cases. The illegals usually are not filing their income tax returns and the ones that do use false documentation to do so and cause huge headaches for the IRS. An example is when you have about ten people all using the same social security number. After some of them decide to file, usually trying to get a refund of some sort, it flags up that this individual did not claim all their income, because of the many others across the state using the same social security number. I had one man break down and confess to me what he was doing. Someone sold him a social security number when he came over illegally so he could work.
